It’s week 18 of Cassie’s Challenges and this week’s challenge is to try something new for your morning routine. Pick one habit you are going to introduce to your morning routine this week!
Who completed last week’s spend 15 minutes outside challenge? It really made me realise how little time I spend outdoors on most days. I found myself in the afternoon sitting at my computer debating with myself about getting up. But once I was outside in the fresh air I immediately felt recharged and refreshed. It’s something I’m going to try and be more mindful of in future. How did you find it?
Now for this week’s challenge!
Try something new for your morning routine
I’ve purposely left this ambiguous so that you can choose which element you will add in to your morning routine to trial for a week. Most of you would have seen my latest post on morning routines, where I interviewed three wonderful women from the health and fitness industry on how they set their days up for success. It got me thinking that I have pretty much kept the same morning routine for years now, and there are certainly areas I could be improving in my own!
Establishing a good morning routine can shape your day completely. It can help reduce stress and anxiety and improve your mindset. And the best part is there is no right answer when it comes to what you SHOULD be doing to when setting up a morning routine. So you can trial and error until your hearts content. All you need to do is fill your mornings with activities that make you feel energised and excited for the day.
Not sure how to start? I’ve compiled a list of ideas that you can draw from. I’d suggest just choosing one new thing to try this week!
Morning Routine Ideas:
- Wake up 10-30 minutes earlier
- Try a morning meditation
- Eat a good breakfast
- Exercise for 30 minutes
- Journal for 5 minutes
- Play with the kids
- Spend 10 minutes planning out your day
- Keep off social media for an hour after you first wake up
- Read or watch something inspirational
- Complete one work task you have been putting off before breakfast (yes, the one you really don’t want to do)
- Spend time with your partner and have a breakfast date
I’m going to be incorporating some planning time into my mornings. Most days I have a general idea what I want to accomplish but I don’t really spend time writing lists or mapping out a proper strategy for my week. I imagine in doing this I’ll be able to hold focus more easily on the tasks I need to get done but also have a greater sense of achievement at the end of each day when I can see exactly what I’ve managed to do with my day!
What will you be trying to incorporate into your morning routine this week?
